Owner and Lead Trainer, Coach Rob

Coach Rob was active in his youth, but weight was always an issue. He was always “The Big Kid” in the neighborhood growing up. He played sports like football, basketball, and soccer but found that he really enjoyed weight lifting when his father introduced it to him at age 11. As he got older and went to high school he found himself getting much stronger but still struggled with his weight. After suffering a severe knee injury playing football his weight topped 345lbs. He knew it was time to start taking better care of himself.

He was introduced to CrossFit by a friend in 2008 and decided to give it a chance to work for him. Unfortunately one morning he woke up not feeling well and as he attempted to get to the bathroom he fell and hit his head. He went to the hospital only to find out some devastating news. He had a golf ball size mass in his brain and would have to undergo massive testing and surgery to remove it. It crushed him but his “never give up” attitude wouldn’t allow him to just lay down and quit. It took 7 months but he got himself back into training after surgery and successfully lost 140lbs over the next 2 years. He then knew that CrossFIt was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life, however long that may be. He obtained his CrossFit Level 1 Certificate in March of 2010 and started CrossFit Triple D in May of 2011.

Coach Rob is considered a Veteran in the CrossFit competition world. He has numerous competitions under his belt such as:

Beast Mode Battle, Raid Games, BluePrint Games, I Am Now Games, Endurance Challenges

And a few charity events such as Beat The Streets, Wod-A-Thon, and hosting his own Pennies For Pounds, which raised money for a local organization that helps support families in need.

He has also ran numerous 5k runs and 5k obstacle courses, which he encourages his members to give a shot. Here’s a few you may have heard of:

Warrior Dash, SuperHero Scramble, Hero Rush, Merrell Down and Dirty, and Spartan Race.

Coach Zac

Coach Zac was a meat manager for Publix for 12 years. In his free time he really enjoyed training and helping others. During that time he had two herniated discs in his lower back and gained 30 pounds.

In 2010 he decided to make a change because his health depended on it. Through proper nutrition and exercise he healed his back, lost weight and got back in shape. It wasn’t enough though. He needed motivation and direction. He found Coach Rob and CrossFit Triple D and felt like it was just what he needed. He trained with Rob for 8 months but had to dropout due to family reasons.

Since then he has left Publix, became a certified personal trainer and started training at CrossFit Triple D. He also has cerfitications in CrossFit Level 1 and CrossFit Strongman. “CrossFit has given me back my passion for training and developing others. It has taught me that variety, intensity, and functionality is what it takes to be truly fit. I truly believe the saying “You don’t have to be great to start but you have to start to be great”, so just start and improvements will happen. It is an awesome feeling to hear someone say “thanks for pushing me coach I didn’t think I could do it.”"

Coach Eryk

After struggling with his weight his entire life, Eryk decided to make a real change. The first step was to quit a 20 year pack a day cigarette habit. It was a challenge for sure but he never faltered. From the day he decided enough was enough he never looked back. This accomplishment set the tone for his future.

By the time he was finally free of the worst habit of his life, he had gained a considerable amount of weight. He ate his way up to 280lbs over the 5 months it took to quit smoking. After a few unsuccessful attempts at dieting, he decided it was time to enlist some help. He hired the services of a personal trainer friend. Under his supervision, Eryk was able to change his lifestyle and his diet to lose a good portion of the weight he had gained. He learned how to exercise and ultimately that fitness could be fun. It was difficult at first but he soon grew to crave it. Eventually he couldn’t live without it.

Eryk began looking for more challenging endeavors. Conventional gym routines were no longer the challenge they use to be. He began competing in mud runs and obstacle races for fun. He was forever changed. When a friend introduced him to CrossFit it was like meeting an old friend. From the first day he was hooked. It was the perfect training ground for his love of obstacles races.

“What CrossFit has given to me is so powerful, I decided I wanted to share it with the world. I wanted to be able to foster this feeling in my friends and family. After many discussions with my wife and coaches, I decided to get certified to teach CrossFit. If I got nothing more than a better understanding of the sport of fitness out of the experience it was enough for me.

Finishing the level 1 certification has been a life changing experience. On a daily basis I get to help people of all ages and skill levels improve their health. I’m living my dream and making a difference in the lives of the people around me. What could be better than that?

Coach Orlando

Sports and physical fitness have always been part of Coach Orlando’s life. His passion and competitiveness for athletics were instilled by his father at an early age. He loves to play all sports but his greatest passion was for baseball. The love for the sport helped him achieve a full scholarship to play ball at a division three college in Savannah, Georgia. He continued to play ball after college for years in a local men’s league for the love of the game was still strong. Coach “O” ended up suffering a full left Achilles’ tendon rupture while playing and had to have surgery. Orlando never thought he would ever be the same and unable to participate in any physical activity again like he used to. He never gave up though. “That had to be one of the toughest situations I have ever had to deal with but what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. There are people all over the world going through worse.”

Coach ended up going through rehab for a year and started going back to the gym. He set a goal for himself to be in the best shape of his life for his upcoming wedding. A family member then introduced Crossfit to Orlando shortly after that and once he started the addiction was instant. “I couldn’t get enough! It was the challenge I was looking for that I’ve never found at a traditional gym.” Coach Orlando started seeing results very quickly which motivated him to keep going harder and harder giving 110% at all times.”My father always told me I can be and do whatever I want but I have to work hard at it because there’s always someone else out there working harder than you. I try and maintain that perspective with my training and everyday life.” Coach “O” has now reached his goals and more. He has reached a higher level of athletic ability with the Crossfit program.

Orlando’s drive and motivation has allowed him to obtain his Level 1 certification giving him the opportunity to share his knowledge with others in return helping them reach their goals as well. “I love helping others especially when it comes to their health and fitness. It’s one of the greatest feelings to help others go after their goals and see them ultimately reach those goals. I truly believe in the Crossfit theory or program. It’s a well balanced thought out system that produces results faster and safer than any other program I know. It’s amazing how much harder you push when you add a clock or time limit to your training. You’ll be surprised what your body has the potential to do when you push the limits.” “I would like to first thank God for blessing me with this opportunity and my abilities, my beautiful wife and family for their support. I owe a big thanks to Coach Rob and to the entire 3D family, including the coaching staff, for helping me get motivated and pushing me to get to this level. I’m looking forward to being part of the coaching team and sharing the powerful knowledge to whomever seeks it.”
